Project Wonder is an organization that aims to create free & easy to access resources for rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders. Understanding the basic concepts of math are crucial to excelling in later years. Students today often face disadvantages when preparing for standardized exams, most notably the Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT) and Regents exams in New York City. The opportunities that these exams provide are exceptional but the resources for them are not allocated evenly. The founder of this website went through this process himself and knows firsthand the hardships that can rise, especially for first-generation families. Through tutoring, volunteering and being a student himself, the founder realizes the extent of these issues and hopes to create a solution that helps addresses these concerns.
Project Wonder offers two free resources that are accessible to anybody: online videos going over math concepts & problems (accessible via YouTube) and a custom workbook with approximately 200 questions, topic explanations and practice quizzes. You can count on these resources to be useful because of the founder’s experience and expertise. He is a student from The Bronx High School of Science (specialized high school), scored a 1500+ on the SAT, 34+ on the ACT, and perfect/near perfect scores on all of his Regents exams.
